Yesterday I ate a fry-up. There aren't too many better meals than a fry-up. Cheers mum.
I then visited The Plough Inn, a local pub that sells Asahi and Oranjeboom on tap. Oranjeboom isn't the most wonderful of lagers (I did regularly drink it at Uni but only because it was the cheap option) but Asahi is my favourite beverage at the moment.
It's rare to find Asahi on tap. I first encountered the beer whilst in a Korean restaurant in China Town, London. Since then I have only found the beer available in a funky Manchester bar (Kosmonaut). Pubs generally like to stick to the safe, popular and commercial options of Fosters, Carling, Stella Artois, Heineken and Carlsberg with the occasional Kronenbourg and Tuborg appearance.
However there had been rumours that a local drinking quarter served the rare Asahi and last night was the opportunity to see if the myth was true. Fortunately it was so I do believe I have now found a new regular pub for the Friday night drinking session. Top marks for The Plough Inn!
On the subject of beer, a few weeks ago I found myself browsing the "World Beers" section of my local Tesco store. I left with a bottle of the Japanese Asahi (of course) and a new, untried beer from Estonia named Viru. Viru stood out mainly due to the bottle's design - a sort of six sided pyramid. Unfortunately the beer wasn't that memorable. Very fizzy and with only a light taste I would rate it around the 6/10 mark. 10/10 for the bottle design though. Naturally, I took a few snaps...
