During my three weeks in Sydney I sought out three locations that I figured would create some good night photos. The three locations that I chose will not be all that surprising. They are popular locations that are popular for a good reason, they offer some famous scenery.
The first location is across the Sydney Harbour Bridge from Circular Quay. Once across the Bridge and down the steps into Kirribilli you need to backtrack and follow the bridge from below. This will take you to the edge of the Harbour onto a street called Olympic Drive near Jeffrey Street Wharf. This is where I took the following shots.
The second location is directly next to the Sydney Opera House. This spot gives an uninterrupted view of the Harbour Bridge. The Opera House is one of the most popular spots in the city so even at night you will need to dodge other photographers to get that one shot you want. Despite the popularity of the location, I struggled to come up with anything more creative than the following photo. Perhaps with a wide angle lens I may have taken a more interesting shot.
The third and final location offers iconic scenery that is pictured on the majority of postcards in Sydney. The name of the location is Mrs Macquarie's Chair which is just across Farm Cove from the Opera House. The Chair itself is a popular tourist spot which offers some interesting history however it is the view that can be found just around the corner from the Chair that attracts the masses. I set up around 15 minutes before sunset and took photos into the night.
